THREE REASONS WHY YOU NEED TO MIX YOUR FOUNDATION

FOUNDATION

THREE(3) REASON WHY YOU SHOULD MIX YOUR FOUNDATION
1). To get a certain finish : Dewy, Matte & Satin finish
2). To get a perfect shade: Light, Medium & Dark
3). To get your under-tone right : Cool, Warm & Neutral

HOW TO GET THE DIFFERENT FINISHING
^ If you want a nice glow to your skin > Go for a Dewy Finish
^ If you want more of a natural look to your skin > Go for a Satin Finish
^ If you want your skin to be very flat, very matte looking > Go for a Matte Finish

1). PROCESS TO GET DIFFERENT FINISHING
A). For a Satin Finish : Mix your favorite moisturizer of any kind, with no fragrance just incase you
https://web.facebook.com/commerce/products/1413916192030877/
have a sensitive skin, that won't cause any form of discomfort to your skin, mix the moisturizer with your foundation and apply.

B). For a Dewy Finish : To get this finishing, mix your foundation with a few drops of any good facial oil, be sure the oil is good for your skin types or something you know you can trust, then mix both together then you have yourself a Dewy Foundation.

Examples of the top rated good ones are;

Jojoba Oil(low ends)   Farsali Rose Gold Elixir (high ends)

C). For a Matte Finish : Just get yourself a Mattifying Foundation, or you apply a Mattifying Primer before your foundation and I bet you, your foundation is going no where for a long period of time!

Trusted brands are:

No7 Airbrush Away Primer       POND'S Oil-Control Primer     Becca Evermatte Primer

2). HOW TO GET THE PERFECT SHADES
If for instance, you end up buying different shades of foundation that is either too dark or too light for you, don't panic and don't toss them away or give it out, all you need to do is to custom mix them to get your perfect shade.

*PROCESS
Take the foundations, (the light and the dark on), mix both together, but you need to, first of all, know where your complexion lean towards more, is it on a darker side or lighter side? If your complexion falls more on a lighter side but not as light as the foundation you bought, all you need do is, take more of the lighter foundation and mix a little bit of the darker foundation, continue that way gradually until you reach your perfect shade and if your complexion leans towards the darker side and also, if your complexion is not as dark as the foundation you bought, just do the opposite (Take more of the darker foundation and mix a little bit of the lighter one). And you can also, use the lighter foundation for your highlighting and the darker one for your contouring! You see... Nothing is wasted!

3). GETTING YOUR UNDERTONE RIGHT
For every foundation that are produced, they are produced specifically based on skin-undertones which are:Warm, Neutral and Cool.
How to know which of these skin-tones you are, the best and trusted way is to check the veins in the inner part of your arm, close to your wrist,
If it's Green: Then you have Warm undertone.
If it's Blue: You have Cool undertone and If it looks Blue Green or you can't  really tell the actual color it is, Then you have a Neutral Undertone.

When you're choosing or buying your foundation, use your undertone to pick your perfect under-tone.

Another good Example to detect your skin UNDERTONE is the TABLE OF COLORS by the right hand side..

If you look good in any of the colors under WARM ROLLs then you have a WARM UNDERTONE or if you look good under COOL COLORS ROLLS  then you have a COOL UNDERTONE, but if your case is that, you look good in both WARM and COOL COLORS, then you have a NEUTRAL UNDERTONE.

FINISHING POWDER vs SETTING POWDER... WHAT ARE THESE POWDER FOR?

HEY LOVES... I'm here again with another exciting and most requested topics from my beauty junkies... SETTING POWDERS & FINISHING POWDERS... What does these two powders do really, are they meant to be used for setting of foundation inter-changeably, or is it just another way of tricking us into buying a product that is not necessary all in the names of TRENDS? Chill and Relax as i take you through the journey of what both of these POWDERS are meant for, and how to use each separately!

For the sake of those that may or might not know what SETTING POWDER is, am going to be referring to it as SP hereinafter. So, SP is the process of locking in your foundation in place, to remove any of those excess oil that comes from liquid or cream foundation and to really make sure that, your makeup stays in place for a long time through out the day!

***Am sure most of us do make this mistakes during our makeup application, by just applying SP strategically in some areas of the face and leaving the other areas bare or untouched...Yes Yes i know, i've been there before, but that's not the right way to do it, when you're applying a SP, you really want to make sure that it goes everywhere, not just some part of your face especially for the super oily ladies.

***Note--- For Dry-Skin, you don't have to apply the SP over the face cause its just going to dry you out the more, but if incase you set your over all face, make sure you spray a Mist on your face to reduce the harsh/hardness and bring back softness to your face. But if you are Oily-Skin, you might want to go a little bit heavier and make sure that, you really work the SP into your skin with a makeup sponge. A good High Ends Quality Brand is of a Setting Powder is Laura Mercier Setting Powder.

***CLICK on the Images to get the source and Details:

                                                       Laura Mercier Setting Powder

This powder feels incredibly soft and silky-light on your skin. I love the super smooth application it gives, it goes on evenly, blends effortlessly and provides great wear. Sets makeup without adding weight or texture. The good news about this powder is, its comes in two(2) different shades, for a light and dark skin, another shade has been added to it for the sake of our beautiful woman of color who usually complain most times that the light one is too harsh if left for long period of time, so worry no more! So basically, it has two(2) shades now (Translucent and Translucent Medium Deep). Just get the one that sooth your skin complexion!
https://web.facebook.com/commerce/products/1363095087139714/
                                             Sacha Butter Cup Setting Powder

A great alternative to Laura Mercier Setting Powder that is Semi-pocket friendly and works pretty well on almost all the skin color or you make your choice from the shades available, oh yea, it comes in three(3) shades as well, (Buttercup, Buttercup Light and Sacha Setting Powder which is colorless) So for every skin complexion there's a shade.... Its easy to apply, wherever you put this baby, trust me, its ain't going not where.. lol! Its doesn't have a camera flash back if used generously, its has a yellow under tone, which makes it a dope for Woman Of Color..

APPLICATION & TOOLS:

TOOLS:
To apply the SP over your face, use a fluffy large point brush to do that... all you need do is, dip your brush into the SP, tap off the excess and set the face with the pigment on the brush... If you don't tap off the excess from a brush, either for eye-shadows or powders, the excess is going to be applied where its not needed, so always always make sure that you tap off excess of any product you are applying to leave you with the pigment, remember to always start with small quantity and work your way towards building up as you would want... cause its hard to blend off when you apply way too much product, so start little!

                                                Large Point Fluffy Powder Brush

***For a Normal/Combination Skin, with a large fluffy pointy blending brush, apply the SP with a Press and Roll techniques when setting the foundation, but for Oily-Skin, use a Powder Sponge, the ones that comes in a compact powder,  Reason is, Normal/Combination Skin doesn't produce oil as much as Oily-Skin would, so for Normal/Combination Skin, all you need to do is to use a brush to apply the SP to set the face lightly and concentrate more on the T-Zone area cause that's where the oil comes out from more, for Oily-Skin, you might want to go a little bit heavier to keep the system that produces oil dormant for a long period of time.

                                               Small Eyeshadow Fluffy Blending Brush

***For the under eye area, get a small fluffy eyeshadow blending brush just for that area and use a Press and Roll techniques for your application, becareful to always be gentle when you're dealing with your under eyes area cause its the thinnest part of our body and too much dragging can make it wrinkled or sagging on time.

FINISHING POWDER
Finishing powder is the final step after your makeup application. See it just like the process of sealing your deal with a client. Think of your FP as a final seal to your overall makeup appearance, e.g, The final effect you want on your nail polish, is the same thing as FP, it creates a final effect like Silicon.

*** FP are finely milled, when applied, they go in to smoothing the surface of the skin, they also make any form of fine lines (wrinkles) if there's any on the skin to look or appear less obvious, it smooths out pores.

*** Note: FP are not really great in absorbing oils, they are not really great in making a foundation stay put or to lock it in place, they work really better on top of foundation that has already been set with a setting powder.

https://web.facebook.com/commerce/products/1356092887802118/

                                            Makeup Forever High Definition Powder

A good High-End brand is Makeup Forever High Definition Powder... this powder is finely milled and its translucent so it won't really show up in terms of glow or matte, its just going to smooth out the surface of the skin, that's the Finishing Effect of it, it creates a super smooth surface on the skin and also blur out the fine lines if there's any. Its comes in just one shades that works perfectly for everybody, its translucent so, its won't alter the color the your foundation.

https://web.facebook.com/commerce/products/1341024769348125/

                                           Black Opal Deluxe Finishing Powder

Another super great alternative for those of us that's on a budget, a Low-Ends Brand, Black Opal Deluxe Finishing Powder... This Finishing Powder is a translucent loose powder that is triple milled and makes the skin feels and look silky. And the great thing about this powder is, it comes in 4 different colors (Dark, Deep, Medium, Neutral Light), so just incase you guys are wondering, its has a shade for every body, from very light to very dark and affordable.

APPLICATION
This is not something you use a Press and Roll techniques for like i explained for SETTING POWDER, the application for a FP is sweeping it on to the skin with a large fluffy powder brush, all we want to do is, to apply it smoothly all over the face and not really add up too much.

***Note: In a nutshell, SETTING your POWDER is the process you want to go through almost everyday if you wear makeup a lot, especially for our super-oily ladies, you want to make sure that you set your foundation with a SP WHILE FINISHING POWDER is meant to be used for a special occasion, like if you're going to be in front of camera, light or you want to look extra polished. Setting Powder is Necessary especially for Oily/Combination Skin but Finishing Powder isn't, you have to set your foundation before applying a Finishing Powder depending on the Effect you want the finishing powder to give you {Smooth/Matte, Silky,  Glowy/Luminous).

DIFFERENCE BTW BRONZER & CONTOUR

Hey Beauties ... How are you all doing today?... I often get this question from girls who are just starting to get into makeup, “What is the difference between Bronzer and Contour, The products and how to use each?"

In this post, am going to be explaining what the difference is, how to use each and what to look out for when buying each.

So, relax and enjoy your reading!

So first thing first .... Let's talk about the difference between the two " Bronzer & Contour." A general rule of thumb is that, bronzer typically have a little bit of shimmer that kind of gives a subtle light to the face. Bronzers are products that are literally darker versions of highlighters, bronzer gives you a subtle glow while highlighter gives you a tons of sparkles... like look at me am here kind of drama.. lol!

WHAT TO LOOK OUT FOR
When you are looking into buying a bronzer you should consider a few things.  First and foremost, bronzer can be either matte or shimmer, but in my personal opinion it is best to avoid large shimmer or glitter if you are going for a subtle glow.

The matte bronzer will not add any glow to your face, what a matte bronzer will do to your face is to give your face a natural kind of finish look and can also be used as a contour product,

Next consider the color of your skin, fair ladies should avoid anything too orange tone,  Instead look for a more golden tones that will give you that warmth ... An image example is - https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcS5r-urA2hySurko0jHgmD6NWDhvg5FM-tcU8kf857Lx9dku6WI   and for the darker skin... orange or rose-gold tones will actually add a warmth and glow to your skin. An image example is  -  https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSe1EASUJJQzxn08srEl5j8x49zCI2SNJ1CtgAnsRgcCdSNf53CNA

                                                                                                                HOW TO APPLY IT
I like to use a large fan brush   to dust on the bronzer onto the highest point of my face cause that will give me a precise place to place the product without extending it to where its not needed... There are different ways to apply bronzer,  for instance... in the tear-duct area, as eyeshadow, brow bone, but a good rule of thumb is, to gently dust it onto the areas of your face that get hit by the sun/light the most, bridge of the nose, cheek-bone, chin, and a little on your fore-head but this is optional.

FOR CONTOUR
Nine out of ten, a contour product is going to be matte, the reason is you are using a contour product to kind of lift, sculpt and creating an illusion of shadow and also giving you an illusion of a  higher cheek bone... a really great example is Maybeline powder in cacao  https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRdwUnvKtUmZ3vmoIMA20PKD6AzPZOdB5iK8SHqEJfIT1ALO02l3g  Note: No matter your skin color... always go for a contour products that is 2 shades darker than your skin color.

So, i typically like to use a small pointy brush, cause its easier to work under the cheekbones like the Real Techniques contour brush:  An image example is -  http://www.temptalia.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/realtechniques_contourbrush001.jpg  ... this brush has a really nice point to it.. it helps me find where the cheekbone is.

So, when next you go shopping, look for a contour product that has no shine to it... matte will help you sculpt and recede that area that you don't want obvious as oppose to if it has shimmer to it, it will only accentuate that area more instead of hiding it.

HOW TO PLACE BOTH IS DISPLAYED IN THE DIAGRAM ABOVE
Bronzers are place in the highest point of the face to catch light while contour is place under the cheekbone to create an illusion of a lifted cheek bone and other part of the face that you want to make less obvious and the application of contour depends on what face shapes you have.

So that's pretty much everything that you need to know about the difference between contouring and bronzing .... So, go out there and start bronzing and contouring your face for that easy and sculpted face!

Until my next post.... Bye for Now!

ILLUMINATOR VS HIGHLIGHTER: WHEN SHOULD YOU USE EACH?

Hey Loves...Welcome back for an exciting topic...very exciting but yet... seems very confusing to a lots of beauty divas.....a lot of you guys has been asking me  if Highlighter and Illuminator are the same, how to use it, when to use it and which comes first! Are they all just the same thing...or is the industry playing a mind game with us?

Read on........

Both products have their different ways of defining ones beauty.... They both give the skin that angelic glow and bring out the best of our bone structures. One makes you glow while the other brings out the highest point of your face where light would hit naturally!
So lets look into how both should be used...........

First of all, lets see what each products means and how important it is to use them and what skin types can get away with it.

The main difference: "Highlighter is for a concentrated area of light, while an Illuminator casts light more generally.

Illuminator:
Illumintators are meant to be used under the foundation, or, in some cases, mixed with the foundation.
"If you're looking to enhance or create a feeling of vitality and light from within. Its add glow to your face underneath your foundation....this particular product....gives a dry skin a more luminous appearance while oily-skin should dread carefully!
illuminator comes in different forms,,,, e.g Powder form, Liquid form or creamy form......You should be careful when applying illuminators, because if its too much... it will make your skin look oily instead of shimmery. A nice dewy glow — that’s what we’re after.

How To Use It:
For the liquid or creamy form...Mix a little with your foundation or you apply a little on your face before your foundation and that should be after your primer then you can apply your foundation and set lightly with powder. but for Dry-skin....you can leave it on without setting it with powder because your skin types look goods when its luminous finish rather than matte!

Highlighter:
highlighter is usually used as a finishing touch, after the foundation and powder — it should probably be one of the last thing you apply to your face. Basically, think of the points you would like to highlight… cheekbones, brow bones,  the bridge of your nose.

How To Use It:
Highlighter should come before your blush... your blush should be placed in between your highlighter and contour.
To know the areas where your highlighter should be place....you'll want to form a triangular shape in the center of your face...i.e  *Above your brow archs, *center of your fore-head down to the bridge of your nose, *peak of the lips, *tip of the chin, *cheek bones, under your brow bones.

Using foundation, corrector, concealer and powder really gives you a great blank canvas to work with. But while they even out skin tone and hide blemishes, they also make your face very flat. By adding a little shimmer and highlighting and contouring, you’ll really be able to push forward the features you love the most!

Remember that...for every application... less is more!

Feel free to drop your comment below

Until my next post....by for now!

JOHNSON BABY POWDER AS SETTINGS POWDER

Baby Powder = Setting Powder

Hey guys! Do you know that your BABY POWDER can actually serve as a SETTING POWDER?😳.....Am sure you guys will be wondering....how is that possible?

Well, it is and if you must know😜... I recently found out that... The key ingredient used in most high-ends brands like "Laura Mercier setting powder" to Low-end brand "Sacha butter-cup setting powder"...is TALC...yes Talc...this same ingredient is also included in baby powders🤔...that's the same reason why...when you apply a baby powder on babies...it makes that particular area dry for a long period of  time ....am sure you guys are nodding right now and saying .... Oh that's true!😀 Well....Let's continue...

DIRECTION FOR USE
Do your normal foundation, highlighting and contouring routine, ....then use your baby powder

(Johnson baby powder...Preferably) to set the areas you just highlighted. To do that, use a wedge sponge or a damped beauty blender to pack on a generous amount and apply it on to the highlighted areas for 5minutes....the longer you leave it there to set the dryer it becomes....

Note: For a dark skin ...it should be left for 2 to 3minutes so as to avoid making those areas white-cast...light skin should leave it for 5minutes or how long you're leaving it is totally your choice of how dry/bright you want those areas to be....

*Tips: You can also use it as a form of catching eye-shadow fall-outs....😉

*Tip: Talcum powder can also be mixed with a powder or bronzer that is a bit too dark ...to lighten it up.

Gently sweep off the excess with a large fluffy powder brush after the stipulated time ....you can use your powder shade to tone the areas down if it shows a little bit of a white cast or you can leave it the way it is if you want more of a very bright under eyes....

Note: If your under eyes is prone to creases...Apply an eye-cream to blur out those lines 3minutes after your foundation base(Primer) and leave it for some minutes to sit there before you go ahead with your foundation routine and other good stuff.....

Feel free to leave your comments below and I'll see you guys with other tips and d.i.ys...
